Supporting the AAPI Community

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to an increase in anti-Asian violence across the country and the world. Below are some resources and ways you can be an ally to the AAPI community.

  • Learn about AAPI history: One of the most important factors of being an ally is knowing your history. We encourage you to research AAPI history and understand how AAPI communities have been mistreated throughout history.

  • Visit the Smithsonian’s Asian Pacific American Center website. The Smithsonian’s Asian Pacific American Center has an abundance of resources and information about the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.
  • Watch PBS’s series called Asian AmericansPBS launched a new series, Asian Americans, focused on the “history of identity, contributions, and challenges experienced by American Americans.”

  • Read books about AAPI heritage and cultures. To understand the scope of AAPI history, read stories by Asian and Pacific Islander authors.

  • Join Harvard's AHAAAFS! The Association of Harvard Asian and Asian American Faculty and Staff (AHAAAFS) is a Harvard-wide Employee Resource Group and was established to provide opportunities for networking, career development, awareness, and support for Asian and Asian American faculty and staff. It also serves as a resource for the larger Asian and Asian American community at Harvard.
