Title: Moving Towards Accountability and Action: A HarvardWIT+ Discussion on Allyship

Register here »

Summary: Mateo Cruz’s talk and presentation on allyship in the fall sparked a lot of conversations and questions about how to be an ally at Harvard. HarvardWIT+ is having a follow-up gathering for our greater community to continue discussions on what allyship means, how to acknowledge the privilege and power that each of us may hold, and how to practice accountability as allies. This meeting is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about allyship, whether you attended the Mateo Cruz meeting in the Fall or whether this is your first HarvardWIT+ meeting.

Allyship is “an active, consistent, and challenging practice of unlearning and re-evaluating, in which a person of privilege seeks to work in solidarity with a marginalized group” - PeerNetBC

Accessing Lamont Library: There are elevators on either end of the building. If you enter through the main entrance on the first floor, one is to left, just past the main desk but before the stairs, and the other is to the right past the printers/scanners and display case. Take the elevator to “3”. The entrance to the Forum Room is on the center stairs landing about mid-way down the corridor. There are assisted listening devices in the room, if you need one, just ask a Chair or member of the HarvardWIT+ Task Force and they can provide one to you. https://library.harvard.edu/accessibility
