What: Gender Differences in the Workplace: A Conversation
Successful work in any company depends on one’s ability to work across multiple types of Distance. One of those types is Interpersonal Distance, defined as differences in who people are, to include areas such as race, generation, country, religion, education and gender. Much has been published about differences between men and women in the workplace, some of it seemingly contradictory. All too often, the burden of sorting and changing current state falls to women, striving for equity, or at least parity. Women don’t want to be the same; rather, women want the same opportunities.
Beginning with a core understanding is key to success. Many of the challenges facing women are rooted in unconscious or unspoken components of the workplace. These often create different approaches and ideas about basic workplace behaviors. Exploring these behaviors helps craft an approach that is more likely to make a difference. It also creates an understanding of why it matters.
Join us for an interactive session that will:
1. Review current gender wage and role status, including a focus on STEM and IT
2. Learn foundational differences in masculine versus feminine approaches
3. Examine differences in activities in the workplace, particularly in communication and misunderstandings
4. Review approaches and determine next steps
