On Sunday, April 8th, 2018, the Harvard Information Security team with HarvardWIT participated in a one-day event leading career sessions entitled, "Cyber Security: Outsmarting the Attackers," at the Jr. Tech. Girls STEM Summit.
Thank you to our HarvardWIT volunteers and a big shout out to Sandy Silk, Christian Hamer, Micah Nelson, Paresh Patel, and HUIT Support Services, for the preparation, equipment, and support of activities support of activities - many groups came together to make this happen, with many enthusiastic male allies.
Harvard volunteer trainers (Sandy Silk, Mary Walsh, Hilary Stoebig, Katie Phelan, Barbara Ciccolini, Kara Amana, Micah Nelson, and Christian Hamer) led sessions on cybersecurity, and judging from the feedback, I think they piqued the interest for more than a few future cybersecurity careers! Marianne Markwarth and I helped out with the Exhibit Hall table – we were more than 6 rows of girls deep at times (we did have some amazing swag thanks to security vendors who were eager to support the program)!
We had so much fun! Please stay tuned for future volunteer opportunities.
