Dr. Alexis Stokes, SEAS Assistant Dean for Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging, will join us to present DEI Work is Not FreeHistorically, higher education has treated Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) as passion work that has primarily been shouldered by marginalized communities. This does not create sustainable and effective change and it sends the message that DEI is not a priority. To create real change, it requires intentional and strategic planning, introspection, action, and a budget. Join us for discussion on building the infrastructure to support and advance DEI. It will cost at the individual and organizational level... and I'm not just talking money (but it requires that too!).

Dr. Alexis Stokes is the Assistant Dean for Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging at the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS). She has over 11 years of experience working with non-profit and higher education institutions. Throughout her career, she has worked to not only increase college and career access but also create systemic changes to support the success of marginalized communities. Alexis has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Xavier University of Louisiana, a Master of Education in Community Counseling from the University of Georgia, and a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership and Policy from Vanderbilt University.
