Honoring Indigenous People's Day 2021

Dear HarvardWIT+ community,

As Harvard University closes in observance on Monday, October 11th, to commemorate Indigenous People's Day, we want to share resources and collectively recognize the history of this day along with the continued struggle of Indigenous Peoples' here and across the globe.

We want to recognize that the land on which Harvard University sits is on the ancestral, traditional, and contemporary unceded homeland of the Massachusett people, the surviving descendants of the first people of Massachusetts and of the Neponset band of the Massachusett. In recognizing that we live and work on stolen land, we encourage you to reflect on the history of colonization in Massachusetts and the US. We have selected a few resources to get you started on your journey.

In Solidarity,
Your HarvardWIT+ Chairs: Donna, Deirdre, and Anisha, and WIT+ Intern, Afiya Rahman
